Local stocks extend losses

The key equity barometers traded with notable losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 24704-24504. Nifty Media, BSE 250 SmallCap and Nifty Metal shares advanced, while Nifty Realty and Nifty Private Bank shares retreated. NIFTY fell 1.03% in last session and gained 2.07% over last one-week. At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, posted modest losses of 154.91 points or 0.20% to 78,484.12. The Nifty 50 index decreased by 267.95 points or 1.08% to 24,506.35. The broader market surpassed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index added 0.07% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index inched up 0.32%. The market breadth was healthy. On the BSE, 2401 shares rose and 2257 shares declined. A total of 245 shares were unchanged. Nifty Media index moved higher by 0.76% to 1581. The index has risen slightly by 3.73% in last one month and inched down 4.42% over last one year. Nazara Technolo., up 3.12%, led the gainers followed by Zee Entertainmen, gaining 1.43% and Prime Focus, inching higher 0.65%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 6 are reporting gains today. BSE 250 SmallCap index posted modest gains of 0.32% to 7175. The index has posted modest gains of 0.45% in last one month and inched up 4.91% over last one year. Ather Energy, rallying 14.72%, led the gainers followed by Vedant Fashions, rising 7.84% and Aether Industri., moving higher 5.94%, respectively. Out of 250 index constituents, 116 are reporting gains today. Nifty Realty index declined 1.58%. The index has inched higher by 2.50% in last one month and added 0.11% over last one year. DLF, edging lower 1.67%, led the loosers followed by Godrej Propert., slipping 1.66% and Oberoi Realty, down 1.21%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 8 are reporting loss today. Asian markets edged lower on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is marginally higher by 0.20%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is lower by 0.67%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is slightly higher by 0.32%. In Europe, German DAX ticked up 0.28%, UK’s FTSE 100 eased 0.10% and French CAC climbed 1.22%. In Commodities, MCX Gold is up 0.78% to trade at Rs 1,41,155 per 10 grams. MCX Crude oil moved higher by 0.81% to trade at Rs 7,641 per barrel. MCX Copper edged higher by 0.88% to trade at Rs 1,346.90 per kg.
