Local stocks ended on a mildly negative note

The key domestic indices ended marginally lower. Nifty Pharma, Nifty IT and Nifty Healthcare Index shares rose, while Nifty FMCG and Nifty Realty shares declined. As per provisional closing data, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, posted modest losses of 388.19 points or 0.49% to 78,154.25. The Nifty 50 index moved lower by 112.10 points or 0.46% to 24,471.70. In the past three trading sessions, the Nifty and Sensex eased by 0.67% and 1.01%, respectively. The broader market outpaced the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index remained flat and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.24%. The market breadth was weak. On the BSE, 2240 shares advanced and 2894 shares fell. A total of 216 shares were unchanged. HDFC Bank Ltd was the top traded stock in NIFTY50 index today, recording a quantity of 291.54 lakh shares and registered a sharp decline of 9.95% compared to last one-week’s average daily volume. The stock has fallen sharply by around 11.39% in last one-month and has dropped sharply 26.74% over last one year. Tata Steel Ltd was the second highest traded stock in NIFTY50 index today, recording a quantity of 209.73 lakh shares and posted a sharp drop of 6.49% compared to last one-week’s average daily volume. The stock has edged lower 0.50% in last one-month and has risen sharply 20.01% over last one year. 9 stocks in NSE500 index hit record high today.
