Life Insurance Corporation of India consolidated sales down 22.68% on year in Q2FY2026, net profit plunged by 42.11%

Life Insurance Corporation of India share price declined by 1.91% to Rs 401.0 after the company's net profit witnessed a sharp fall of 42.11% to Rs 13584.25 crore, while revenue from operations nosedived 22.68% to Rs 127623.16 crore in Q2FY26 over Q1FY26.


The market capitalization of Life Insurance industry group stocks on BSE stood at Rs 9.87 lakh crore, tanking 16.46%. It has eased by 1.94% over last one week and edged lower by 6.15% in last one month while the market capitalization of Life Insurance Corporation of India has improved by 0.25% and 7.13% in the same period respectively.


Profit before tax (PBT) of Life Insurance Corporation of India stood at Rs 15312.43 crore in Q2 FY26, rallying 36.07% year-on-year, and rising 6.42% quarter-on-quarter. EBITDA came in at Rs 12711 crore, surging by 15.10% YoY and expanding by 57.77% sequentially.


Total expenses reduced by 14.95% to Rs 225841.43 crore in Q2FY26 over Q2FY25. During the quarter, employee benefits expense was at Rs 6048.3 crore, tumbling by 31.97% YoY.


For the TTM ended FY26, revenue from operations posted a slight growth of 9.77% to Rs 5.38 lakh crore, while net profit rose by 18.90% to Rs 57453.15 crore, compared to previous TTM. EBITDA soared by 4913156% to Rs 41852.38 crore, and PBT softened 4.96% to Rs 53475.48 crore compared to previous TTM.



Life Insurance Corporation of India fell 7.84% in last one year, outperforming the benchmark BSE Sensex which has slipped by 8.95% during the same period.
