Japan stocks shine as Tech shares boost

Japan’s Nikkei 225 Index advanced 1.73% to settle at 63,268 on Tuesday, interrupting a three-day downturn. The equity benchmark benefited from an overnight recovery on Wall Street and a resurgence of investor sentiment toward artificial intelligence (AI) equities spurred by Anthropic’s IPO filing.

Market participants are keenly observing forthcoming earnings releases from South Korean memory chip manufacturers Samsung and SK Hynix, alongside prominent US technology corporations including Amazon, Alphabet and Microsoft. These disclosures are anticipated to offer additional insights into artificial intelligence demand and the trajectory of the technology sector.

Investors are positioning for pivotal policy pronouncements this week from the US Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank and the Bank of Japan. Consensus anticipates that all three monetary authorities will maintain current interest rate levels.

Technology and artificial intelligence equities propelled advances in Japan. Advantest strengthened by 9.6%, Ibiden Co. increased 9.1%, SoftBank Group appreciated 5.2%, Lasertec rose 5.1%, and Tokyo Electron advanced 2.6%.
