Gift Nifty was slightly higher, Asian markets posted modest gains

Local stock markets may see a muted start today. The Gift Nifty April 2026 futures have edged up 0.10 points, hinting at a positive opening for the benchmark index today. The domestic equity market closed on a positive note in last session, with BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 slightly higher. Both the indices have inched higher 2% over last one-month. In Asia today, sentiment was optimistic. China’s SSE Composite Index inched higher 0.83% while Japan’s Nikkei 225 moved higher 4.37%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index edged up 0.18%. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth Rs 3,623 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net sellers to the tune of Rs 1,864 crore in the Indian equity market on 30 July 2026, provisional data showed. Overnight on Wall Street, stocks inched up across the board. The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished higher by 613.92 points, or 1.19%, and closed at 52229.06. The S&P 500 ticked up 1.65% to end at 7458.53, and the NASDAQ Composite edged up 2.75% to 25135.99. Yesterday, the S&P BSE Sensex posted modest gains of 273.55 points or 0.35% to 77928.15. The Nifty 50 index ended slightly higher 66.95 points or 0.28% to 24317.15. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd was top gainer in Nifty 50 yesterday, rising slightly by 1.92% to Rs 3283.70. The stock has inched higher around 1.43% in last one-week and stands lower 10.47% over last one-month. In sectoral indices, only Nifty Auto index moved higher yesterday, gaining 1.63% on the day.
